Don’t convert the source XDCAM HD to ProRes, set your sequences to ProRes instead.

Try right clicking on the mute button next to tracks A3 etc. and make sure that the output is set to 1 & 2.

This has, indeed, been discussed on this forum. In fact just two weeks ago I had a very helpful exchange on this topic. Going in prepared made for a relatively easy and straightforward transition that took, all told, about a day.

Currently running FCP 7 Studio on Lion with no problems aside from an annoying workaround on Magic Bullet Colorista and Looks (soon to be fixed, we hope).
