Phill, Over on my next fav forum DVXusers.com They talk alot about that monitor. HVX Guru Barry G.has one. It is on my target list the minute I get another free 2.7k… Make sure you get a good arm to hold it to your camera. The cheap arms slip.

    Mike,

Rev drives are made by Iomega. I have one, a beta unit, hooked up to my old G4 for the past 3+ years and it still doesn’t work very well.

Iomega has a very bad track record with Macs, so if your PC based you might do better… And they might have “perfected” the drive…. I will not buy anything Iomega….. too dangerous…

    Erik,

I got a 24″ Westinghouse to do my field monitoring.. Not the bestest of all monitors but it looks good and has component HD, HDMI, composite and SVHS inputs all for under 400 bucks delivered from Best Buy… For the price I am amazed it looks as good as it does… and if the grip dumps it,I am out a half days wages not a week…

    Jeremy,

The PCD20 is a target, right after the Kona 3 card and the Betacam SD to SDI convertors, and the big 8 drive raid 5 ……

I wait for the big jobs to show up to purchase, one big item (over 1,ooo-1,5000 bucks),

but if the item is under 500, i will suffer the visa charges for a couple months…

So I am trying to stay under 500, and it plugs into the desk top Mac Pro..

Has the specs on the PCD30 been released?

  • So it seems, that maybe the strobing you see is the scan lines going thru the flare…

Or another way, would the hot spots strobe if you did not have a scan line problem…

I like your puzzle.. Is it possible to make a high contrast negative and use it as a mask to reduce the scan lines. The scan line should be timeable. and you would probably need to mask the negative mask where the important stage imagery is… but your shadows and blacks could be cleaner..

Too much fun,,, and a great story for down at the local pub..

  • And now you know why somebody lost this footage,,,

I would seriously ask who ever owns the tape wether they had seen the original 2 inch played back. And if the 2 inch is still alive find a a damn good 2 inch engineer ( he can play golf the next day) and lay it down again… You can spend many hours and still not be happy with the digi beta.

Are the highlights strobing or more of a flare.. The old Saticon and Plumbicon camera tubes where notorious for flaring.. Your solutions will be interesting to hear…

What are you feeding the Power Book with,, more ram is always nice,, but it sounds like you could use a video raid array to get you data thru put speed up.. Plug in two matched firewire drives and mirror stripe them…. see if that helps…
