Hey guys, thanks for the help. I got it to work with this solution:

Made a copy of the logo and placed on top of the precomposed title sequence. I used it as a track mat set to Alpha Inverted.

The great thing about that (as opposed to stencil alpha) is that you can fade in the layer and the layers below are only affected relative to the amount of the layer’s own opacity. Stencil Alpha, on the other hand, acts like a cookie cutter at all times…even if it’s own opacity is set to 0%.

I sent it out to Final Cut and it works just like I wanted it to.

Sorry to butt in on this conversation…butt…

I always have to send my AE stuff out with the “Stretch” check box checked, and I have to change the dimensions to 740×534 (instead of 740×480). I found that number in a help file.

If I don’t do that, my stuff looks stretched after I bring it in to Final Cut Pro and then export my finished product at 720×480. I don’t understand why.

Stars are so far away from each other you’d never see a parallax effect. Unless, of course, you were very close to one particular star – but that would be a separate element, not part of the background of stars. A flat image makes more sense, doesn’t it?

Think of the intro to the Star Wars movies. They always have a flat background of stars as the camera moves from the opening text crawl to the planet and/or ship.

What about using Motion Tile and animating the Tile Center property? I’ve used it before to scroll an image indefinitely and it worked great. Will it work in your situation?
