Make a nice looking graph in Photoshop and export the graph line as a separate layer with transparency. Then use the stroke effect to reveal the original line.
Not sure if that is what you are looking for, but I did something similar once and I liked how it turned out. You can even follow the stroke with a 3D camera.

Thanks for the suggestion. I think there was definitely something similar happening. I trimmed a few frames off of the heads and tails of my clips, and the whole file exported successfully as a self-contained quicktime movie.
Now in Compressor, I am still unable to send that file out in any h.264 format because it still gives me the entirely unhelpful “Failed” error. However, I can push it out successfully as an MPEG-4, so that is what I’m doing.

Exported to Quicktime (self-contained) and just after 50% completed I got a “General Error” and the process stopped, and the output file disappeared.
I guess I’m going to have to scrap it and redo that tutorial. But not today – my throat is killing me.

Ok, I tried nesting the edit in a new 720×480 sequence, but I got the same result from compressor: “Failed.”
Now you are correct in that I did select an area for capture that was larger than 720×480. However, my output settings from iShowYou HD Pro were for 720×480, so the end product should have been in the right format, right? I wonder if there is a compression problem with the iShowU software.

Ok, I figured it out. I was just writing it wrong. (my html is rusty too!)
I wrote:
page.html/#anchor
instead of:
page.html#anchor

So can I assume that anchors still work even when using CSS to format a page?

Ok, let me see if I got what you are saying…
Step 1 would be to make visible a div that is a solid color, with opacity of say, 40% or something.
Step 2 would be to make the video visible in a div centered on the screen.
And as long as the z-indexes are correct (video on top), then that should work?

Then my follow up question is, can I use my cheaper Canon Elura 85 hand-held camcorder to transfer the tape data to my computer, rather than using an expensive camera as a tape deck? If the data on the tape is the same, it should transfer out through firewire the same, right?
