  • Losing CSS Data When Using Anchors

Posted by Nate Hanson on January 15, 2009 at 11:35 pm

I tried to add a few anchors to my page, but when I conected links to the anchors, my page displayed with no CSS file attached. No colors, or formatting, just the static position of the data…

Why did that happen? Is there a conflict between using CSS and anchors? Does it have to do with the # ID tag getting confused by # anchor tags?

Or do I just have some random mistake hiding someplace?

    Thanks for any input!

I just saw your page but didn’t found the anchors.

Oh, sorry – I took them out since they weren’t working. The page is very much in flux right now.

So can I assume that anchors still work even when using CSS to format a page?

Yes, you should be able to use them with no problems.

Ok, I figured it out. I was just writing it wrong. (my html is rusty too!)

    I wrote:

    page.html/#anchor

    instead of:

    page.html#anchor

Seems to be working fine now. Thanks for taking a look!
