Hey, thanks, Jeff! I would love to see your workflow. I didn’t get a chance to test the pull down suggestion yet, but I’ll bet that’s it. I ended up just exporting from AME and it looks fine for the footage I had, so I’m sticking with that for this project anyway.

I don’t see how to PM you on Creative Cow. If you could e-mail me the workflow, that would be amazing!

I’ve got contact info on my website (link in my signature below). Thanks!

    Thanks, Tim.

Just in case you are interested, I ran a comparison between the two options.

I dumped my recent wedding footage (Canon DSLR, 1080p 24fps) into AME CS6 and use the CineForm codec at “Higher HD”.
    Time: 1 hour, 26 minutes
Total file size: 49.4 GB (original h.264s were 30.8 GB)
My processor sat between 15% and 25% during transcode.

Then I used GoPro Studio (free) at it’s highest setting (“high”)
    Time: 43 minutes
Total file size: 45.7 GB (same originals, obviously)
My processor rarely dropped below 90% during transcode.

Why is GoPro using all of my processor, but AME is not? Who knows.

    Thanks, Dan! That worked.

I was close…for some reason I had addComp stuck in my mind instead of just add.

June 12, 2013 at 5:41 pm in reply to: Random Function in ExtendScript?

You answered it perfectly, that’s exactly what I was wondering. So I will need to essentially copy and paste the necessary pieces of the library into my own script. That makes sense.

    Thanks, Xavier! I appreciate it!

    Great! Thanks, Xavier!

One more question – If I want to share my script with others, how can I make sure that the necessary math.js files travel with my script?

Thanks, Ted! That worked for me. I still wonder if there is a solution from within AE. Maybe turning a long clip into several sub clips without upsetting the linkage to the comps? Any ideas out there?

July 18, 2010 at 7:19 pm in reply to: Submenu buttons disappearing!

Somehow, my submenu had been set to 4:3 instead of 16:9. The players were resizing the frame and the buttons were getting shifted down and scaled down. The menu still played at 16:9 and so it didn’t look “wrong”…which is why it didn’t occur to me to check those settings.

Why the buttons were invisible, I still don’t know. But switching the menu properties back to 16:9 solved everything.

Wow – I spent a few days on this problem and it was so simple and so obvious. Hopefully my stupidity will benefit somebody!

June 17, 2010 at 6:32 pm in reply to: H.264 Question

Hey Greg, I got home and found that my version of MPEG Streamclip doesn’t have Prores or XDCAM EX presets. I’m on a PC (sorry, forgot to mention that). Is there a recommended codec that MPEG Streamclip can convert to on a PC?
