I need to put an archived version of an AE project (actually, Premiere as well) onto DVDs. One of the clips is 8GB so it won’t fit on a DVD even by itself. How can I split this clip in half (or thirds?) without screwing up the projects that make use of it?

    Thanks for any advice!

I know you can archive (.rar) a large file in smaller chunks and then put it together when you extract the file back.
Here’s a useful link for that.

Thanks, Ted! That worked for me. I still wonder if there is a solution from within AE. Maybe turning a long clip into several sub clips without upsetting the linkage to the comps? Any ideas out there?
