    I’m not sure what a “procedural map” is, but I thought of this:

    Could you motion track the first guy in the group, then create a close-fitting mask around the group and attach it to the null object? Seems like that would work and you could obviously fine tune it if the mask got in to trouble along the way.

    And what is a procedural map is anyway?

  • Thank you – I had time remapping in my mind from some tutorials I watched and I got stuck thinking that was the only way to achieve that effect. I should have figured that one out on my own!

    Oh, I see. I didn’t even notice those before – I just thought that was fog in the background. They look like pentagon shapes that float in the 3D space.

    Sorry I don’t know AE well enough to guess how he did that. Although they could be another layer of particles, they seem to be moving out from the center. Whoops…I wasn’t supposed to guess.

    The little dots or star-looking things in the background are particles. If you go through all the Basic Training tutorials, he shows you how to do most of that stuff.

    November 7, 2007 at 8:01 pm in reply to: Exporting DV-NTSC 4:3 = slightly stretched

    Ok, I read the other thread and watched the pixel ratio video. I’m still unclear on some things. Let me clarify:

    I’m not trying to make a widescreen video, I just want to turn my footage from my camera into a regular video.

    The footage looks normal (aspect ratio) when editing in FCP.

    When I export it, the final product is *slightly* stretched wide. It isn’t noticeable unless you have seen the original footage to compare it to. I don’t understand why there would be any difference between my original footage and the final product.

    I used the FCP “Easy Setup” for DV-NTSC.
    I used Export -> Using Quicktime Conversion…

    What am I missing?
