  • Exporting DV-NTSC 4:3 = slightly stretched

    When exporting from FCP I’m getting a slightly squished image. The original footage looks fine, but after FCP exports it, the footage is ever so slightly stretched horizontally.

    It isn’t 16:9…not even close. Just slightly wider than 4:3.

    Any ideas? I used Easy Setup for DV-NTSC.

    See aspect ratio question above

    If you want it to look 16:9 you have to compress it and set it properly in display size

    Ok, I read the other thread and watched the pixel ratio video. I’m still unclear on some things. Let me clarify:

    I’m not trying to make a widescreen video, I just want to turn my footage from my camera into a regular video.

    The footage looks normal (aspect ratio) when editing in FCP.

    When I export it, the final product is *slightly* stretched wide. It isn’t noticeable unless you have seen the original footage to compare it to. I don’t understand why there would be any difference between my original footage and the final product.

    I used the FCP “Easy Setup” for DV-NTSC.
    I used Export -> Using Quicktime Conversion…

    What am I missing?
