    I’ve got three different 3D cameras looking at my scene from different angles. I can trim the camera layers so that the scene goes from c1 -> c2 -> c3 -> c2 -> c1. The timeline looks like a pyramid at this point with camera 3 being the shortest layer on top:

    c3 {===}
    c2 {=========}
    c1 {===============}

    How do I get back to camera 3 without duplicating that layer? I want to do this:

    c3 {=====} {=========}
    c2 {===========}
    c1 {=================} {======}

    Seems simple enough, but I can’t figure out how to do it. In FCP this would be done with the razor blade tool.

    I realize that duplicating the layer (or using the “Split Layer” command) essentially achieves the same result…I’d just like to keep my layers to a minimum for organization’s sake.

    Thanks for any help!

    Thanks Dave. I find this extremely annoying. I think I’d be much less annoyed if I hadn’t stayed up for the midnight showing if Indiana Jones last night…

    The more appropriate way to do this would be to build multiple compositions. Each composition would represent a different camera. Copy and paste all necessary assets from the original comp to the new comp and set the camera to the desired angle. When your done building the new comp, drag it from your project window right into the timeline of your main comp. The new comp in your timeline has an opacity option which will allow you to turn it on and off. Just make sure it’s always the top layer.
