    Matt,

Talk with Jason. Tell him Nate sent ya. Jason got 6 HVX200’s at your price with P2 card.

With Jennifer’s, Pansonic Leasing, three year financing my monthly is less than $160/month.

At $160 per month, everybody should call Jason and Jennifer.. That is less per month than a half day billings.. A real no-brainer. But call quick Jason only had 6. I am getting one. I should get 2. 614-848-5222..

Yes, I know it is a shamless plug… But they are great folks and with a little luck the 200 will be a great b-camera to a new 500…

With all things electronic, the hardest action on the device is turning it on and off. Cold to hot.. Damp with condesation to warm and dry. They’re made to run.

December 4, 2007 at 11:45 pm in reply to: Is P2 really going to make it?

Chad four years ago, I purchased a Sony DXC35wsl slightly used one year old at 15k (new 22k). Have you seen todays used gear prices on used Betacam SP. It is dropping faster than the dollar against the Euro.. I am currently trying to finance a P2 and the prices, brand new with HD lens will not be much more than the used Sony was 4 years ago. For 3,600 I will update my Mac Lap top, for 700 bucks I will buy a Lacie Blue ray burner… No new tape drives for the edit room period,, nota one… Look at the facts bro.. I love Betacam, swear by it.. but the best bet is this time next year you will be giving away your used betacam gear for free. Or if you wait you might be able to purchase all the used Betacam SP gear you want for a dollar. Corporate video, Ma and Pa video will use betacam for another five years maybe. By 2015 you will be struggling to find a certified repair shop who has betacam SP parts…

I have a friend who is interested in buying my old G4 Power Book so I can upgrade and buy a new one. But you say the new ones do not accept the P2 cards?? So you kept the old G4 just for P2 download? Is there an inexpensive option “b” for downloading P2 with the new Mac Book Pros?? I plan on buying the P2 cameras this spring.

November 7, 2007 at 3:30 pm in reply to: Anyone using DLT, SDLT, LTO for archiving?

Your concern for hard drives sitting on the shelve is good to have. I have a drawer full of removable hard drives, quick access and lots of gigs. But just recently trying to retreive info from one of our stored drives failed. It would not mount or even spin up (even in different inclosures) That is why I try to always copy the important stuff to two removable drives.

On the other side of the coin, I also have drawers full of Syquest 80mb drive cartridges from the ’90’s with great archived graphics on them. But no operating drive and no current driver software. Anybody know how to download Syquest drives using OSX ?

This might be strange question, but.. Has anyone ever tried to plug a PCMCIA – firewire or sata card into the P2 slot and then plug in a HD drive from it???

You can get the PCMCIA firewire and sata cards for the MAC right? The P2 cards plug into the MAC.. I just have this hope that there is a way to save mucho money on P2 cards.

I hope to get either the 500 or 3000 camera after next years NAB.

  • I have been following the P2 threads anticipating getting a new camera. Correct me if I quess wrong… So you do need a computer to download the p2 camera or cards. The camera will not power and load a firewire drive all by itself??

October 16, 2007 at 6:47 pm in reply to: Leopard Announced October 26th

I read an article last week that said Leopard is only for Macs with 1gig processor or faster. That all our old Macs sitting on desks that are slower than 1gig processor are now certified junk. Is it true?? Is it “boat anchor” time..

“Because the quality is incredibly poor and the file sizes are fairly large.”

You are talking about WMV prior to #9 right??

I have always found the opposite. That to make a decent WMV file the files size is as big or bigger than Mpg1 and it is not “PC video player compliant on the older machines” granted some of my clients are gov’t and mid size coporate that do not need or have available the latest PC and PC software. And I use mpg1 for Video CDs always at quarter frame.
