[JerDEEZ] “My question is…as opposed to having a mask keyframed frame by frame…how can I motion track and apply the data to the mask?”

Follow yikesmikes’ suggestion. AE does not allow tracking of mask vertices natively.

Logarithmic formats store more color fidelity in the bright tones, sacrificing some in the darker ends (where the human eye doesn’t notice it). So if you have bright daylight shots and need to correct them, you may prefer logarithmic, for toned down or dark shots simple linear RGB.

Can’t quite picture what you are trying to do, but presumably your layers are simply to close to one another. This would cause Z-clipping/ flicker because AE is unable to determine the exact position of the pixels in 3D space. Try offsetting your stuff slightly.

Ah, sorry, I’m no Mac guy. This is definitely more of an OS issue than AE related, so I’ll quietly step back and wait for someone else to chime in. ;O).

Is your footage compressed? Maybe an ugly block is interfering and makes a certain feature/ pattern disappear. In that case, blur slightly and pre-comp, then use that nested comp for tracking.

Not sure, but this sounds more like a generic system problem. Seems to me the OS does not handle the drive paths properly and does not give access. Might also be a problem with user permissions.

December 9, 2006 at 9:37 am in reply to: Blowing sand logo reveal?? How to…

Why not simply work with multiple duplicates and Layer emitters in particular? Have two duplicates of your text, make one a matte for the other. Your text should completely disapper. Now animate the position of the text and the edges will appear. The longer the duration, the more “sand” will accumulate. Use blurs and tools like Obvious FX erodilation to get rid of too sharp corners, use additional duplicates to avoid opacity becoming too low. With your animted reveal in a precomp, use it as a layer grid emitter for Particular in your main comp. Make the particles static (Velocity 0) and blow them with Wind.
