So many programs, but all the wrong ones, I’m afraid. Dunno, unless someone wrote a Python script for Blender to spit out copy&paste data in a text file or a converter for your other programs, It’s more or less bound to fail. *.mots are not even scene files, so tools like deep Exploration or Polytrans won’t read it, either. The only sensible advise: Find someone with Lightwave.

Adjust your Particles as needed, then apply twoi instances of Glow – one Vertaical only, one Horizontal only. This creates a croos star and should look glitetry. Other than that: Trapcode Starglow. If you’re having trouble varying the brightness of the particles, simply use a different particle type like traingles or pyramids – since they are real geometry, they have real faces that react differently to light depending on the angle.

Moving the layer has the advantage of giving you motion blur (which you will need to make it less stuttery). The best technique is to simply animate the anchor point. This way your camera or whatever always stays centered and straight on.

Are you using Open GL? There’s a good chance the image gets resampled because it doesn’t fit in the graphics card’s RAM. Also check your composition settings, maybe you are using an odd aspect ratio.

  • One should indeed. Have you checked your graphics card settings? This may be related to a generic drawing problem. Other than that I can only think that your keyframes belong to a layer that is locked and thus are not editable.

To control the size of the convolution kernel you have to use Compound Blur or similar third-party effects. Your assumption of Photoshop doing so is not correct. Even with a selection, all pixels are blurred uniformly. The difference is in how both programs treat Alpha information. AE works with straight Alphas internally all the time whereas PS uses a different scheme. As you may come to realize, blurring pixels that were “transparent” to begin with yields different results than blurring a fully opaque pixel and re-introducing a blurred Alpha (as AE does things in simple terms). If you will, in AE Alpah calculations are decoupled from RGB calculations.

Nooohooo. Sorry, that’s one of the things C4D hasn’t learned in all that time. The scene-internal Instance object is a s good as it gets.

Well, you probably have the option to choose between different OpenGL config subsets as on my NVidia cards, so I’d check that. Usually there should be some kind of application specific profile or at least some option to prioritize some features. Dunno exactly, the only ATI card in my life so far was the one I won in a giveaway of a games mag and I sold it on eBay immediately. As for your other question: In theory any mid-level graphics board should suffice, but keep in mind the the larger res you work on, the more RAM your card needs to keep all pixels loaded and process the in realtime. Usually you only get this with higher-end-ish cards. It realyl depends on what you do – as usual. ;O)

Mmh, if you are rotating stuff, it might be the small chance that due to the subframe sampling of the moblur it is viewed edge-on, effectively disappearing. Perhaps shift around stuff a tiny bit???
