I need glitter
Posted by Jeremy Lee on January 15, 2007 at 10:25 pmIs CC Partial World the way to create sparkling glitter in AE 6.5 Pro or is there some other way. I would like to know how to create it if 6.5 can make glitter that moves and sparkles.

January 16, 2007 at 4:05 amHave made a poor attempt at this some time back. I used multiple versions of light rays (or one of the other light ray effects) on the particle layer. It was not exactly what I wanted, but was better than just plain particles.

January 16, 2007 at 6:27 amAdjust your Particles as needed, then apply twoi instances of Glow – one Vertaical only, one Horizontal only. This creates a croos star and should look glitetry. Other than that: Trapcode Starglow. If you’re having trouble varying the brightness of the particles, simply use a different particle type like traingles or pyramids – since they are real geometry, they have real faces that react differently to light depending on the angle.

January 16, 2007 at 2:30 pmThanks, I’ll give’em both a try here and let you know how it looks. On one of the latest American Idol commercials the text is full of colorful glitter that sparkles, that’s what I am trying to recreate with AE and Graffiti by creating a full screen movie of glitter in AE and applying it to the face texture in Graffiti.
Thanks for your posts!

January 16, 2007 at 6:00 pmI am getting closer to what I need using pyramids and adjusting their size. One thing, can you tell me how to fill the entire screen with pyramids so that only pyramids can be seen and not any part of the BKG, and second, how do I go about keeping the pyramids from “slugging up the BKG. I am adjusting var. settings like birth rate, gravity, and other settings but i keep getting big pool of slug!
Thanks for your help so far.

January 16, 2007 at 6:27 pmSave yourself a lot of headache and spill some $1.99 glitter into a big glass o’ water and video tape it. That’s the easiest way to get the impression of glitter in water.
Use a black BG and a light source close to the glitter.

January 16, 2007 at 6:47 pmPlace the emitter way outside the comp, spread it far enough and then let gravity, spin and randomenss do their magic.

January 16, 2007 at 9:55 pmGenArts Sapphire plugins will do exactly what you need, but they’re expensive, and certainly not worth purchasing just for the one project you’re working on. But the Sapphire Sparkles plugin is the one you’re looking for, if you have it.
