[jimmybee500] “Now I’m almost certain Adobe have done this to force you to use Bridge…I hate bridge, it’s too slow and doesn’t fit the way I work.”
Actually you are blaming the wrong guys and have done this yourself. File dialogs are a mere extension of the Windows Explorer and inherit all its settings – including folder views. So at some point you have set your folder views to something else than alphabetical and saved the folder view. Change it back and henceforth your dialogs will behave again in the way you need it.

[Filip Vandueren] “do this in a 3D application, or let some 3D artist do it.”
*lol* spot on. In this case probably Cinema 4D’s MoGraph module would do nicely – you could create a cloner with planes/ cubes and modify them using effectors to represent your box underneath. By animating a few parameters this would give a nice illsusion of thousands of small planes “hugging” your box and forming a sheet/ cover. If you’re going for a more realistic look, you can’t possibly avoid die-hard cloth dynamics simulation.

No, in your specific scenario it is doubtful you will be able to use trickery. Sounds like you are using 3D layers and in that case there is no way of cheating. If so, 4 mins per frame doesn’t sound too bad after all, considering AE’s general slowness with 3D layers.

Yes, each image sequence will get a prefix. The only inconvenience is taht C4D does not automatically organize them in sub-folders.

Yes, the cloner is evaluated for each frame. Unless you convert the entire cloner to a solid object/ Hierarchy, you won’t see much speed gains jsut by converting the clones.

Use Overlay, Screen, Add or Soft Light.

Change the scrolling speed. The problem is that your pixels are being distributed unevenly across the fields, resulting in broken characters, flicker and any number of other problems.

March 7, 2007 at 6:23 pm in reply to: Changing Interpret Footage After Import and Adding To TimelineFootage interpretation is done in the project window and thus all clips used in your comps will inherit it, since the only represent references to the project window/ assets. It doesn’t matter how you tweaked your clips in the timeline, AE takes care of everything. Some effects may look slightly different, though since the pixels they use may differ between progressive and interlaced footage.

Offset, Motion Tile and other effects can do that. Just randomize their Center with a wiggle expressions. The film frame itself is most likely stock footage. To get the wobbling (i.e. the “film” being loose in the projector, thus changing distance to the light source), simply slightly distort your footage using Turbulent Displace. I don’t think I need to give hints on the blurring. ;O)

You can use Compound Blur or have to use a third-party DOF effect like Frishluft’s Lenscare. Depending on your needs, you may be better off investing in an AE update before buying a plugin that costs just as much ;O).
