  • In theory you can have an infinite number of playlists as effectively they simply translate to a new GPRM command set each time a new list is openend, a process which does not relate to any of your assets at all. Their may be an internal limit, but I don’t know that, since obviously I never have worked with so many playlists. ;o)

Like they say: no pain, no gain… Like the previous poster said – just start playing around. Both Particular and Particle Playground can be used, the basic approach is the same. If you use Playground, the key to success would be using persistent property maps and mask shapes as collisions. Do this one at a time, do not try to create all separate phenomena inside one particle system. There is no shame in using one instance of playground for one letter as long as the result looks good.

Yes, ideally all images should have the same size. CC Pageturn does not expand the buffers by itself, resulting in incorrect position calculations. To avoid some of your troubles, you can use the Grow Bounds effecxt, Minimax and a few other channel tools to manipulate the Alpha channel/ image buffer bounds. This will help in particular with images that are smaller than the front face. Also consider the Transform effect to resize your image or similar third-party tools.

No, not really. Like the others said, the best way is to pre-compose and apply the effects directly to the pre-comp.

  • You can use any model you can find and apply special edge/ wireframe shaders to it, e.g. by using Sketch&Toon. If you search Turbosquid 0r 3D02 you can find a lot of stuff. in your particular case you should look for game models which are pretty low-res. You can also use subdivision models and lower their HyperNURBS values or turn off the HN object entirely. It really depneds on what you need for a specific project.

  • [brucedrummer] “Well then, How would you afix an objects movment to only one clone (the top one)?”

Reversed logic – attach the cloner to the TV and not the other way around. It would be tricky to animate, though. A better solution might be to use a cloner in object mode which is based on a spline which by itself again is animated using PLA. You can then attach the telly using an Align to Splien tag. see the example here:

First make sure you properly align the texture projection to the grid. By default it will always project along the Z axis which of course is unsuitable for a grid in XZ direction, if you know what I mean. Use the “Fit to object” option in the object manager and include all sub-objects (your clones). If you’re still getting streaks, check the filtering options and the UV behavior near the edges. You may wish to turn of the “tile” option. I would also advise to use an image sequence as opposed to a MOV. this will speed up screen refresh and also avoid potential errors due to decoding frames from a video file.

Simply disable the “multilayer file” option on the mutipass panel. Then feel free to choose whatever format you deem suitable, but generally TIFFs and PSDs are the most reliable.

Don’t use AVIs. ;O) Your problems seem to be specific to the CoDec you are using. It doesn’t seem to handle the Alpha properly, probably because it uses some compression and pixels from the YUV/ RGB cchannels don’t line up with the Alpha.

It’s kind of Crazy After Effects will see all the layers of photoshop, but not the pages of a PDF. I hope Adobe take note of this limiting issue”

No, absolutely not. Forgive me, but the way you are wanting to use your PDF is more than just a little exotic. I’d understand if you’d complain about not recognizing layers, but pages? I’m sure you have your reasons, but in all fairness, it would be much wiser to convert the PDF to bitmap layers in a PSD or whatever. Even if AE supported multi-page PDFs, it would slow down considerably because it needs to rasterize all the vector data and it would be simply unusable.
