Add your object to the exclusion list in the Render settings or use the S&T render tag.

[Nicholastoth] “I don’t have a server, and I was wondering if I could set it up to render to an external on my main machine.”
Yes. Your machine can have the server and a render client running at the same time. Since you have to work with fixed IPs anyways, there’s nothing that would stop the cleint from seeing the server even if it’s jsut on the same address. Like casey said, never use large movie files unless you have lots of free disk space on your clients where they can be copied to. If you are following C4Ds standard procedure and have everything in your main project directory or a “tex” sub-folder, you should not need to intervene manually, though.

You need to convert your objects in “real” geometry by using another object. I still prefer to use DiTools’ DiJoiner, but R10’s Connect object should do the same. Thing is, MoGraph obnjects, geometric primitives, particles etc. are “generator” objects that cannot be manipulated using deformers of any kind. Only polygons and splines can. Said tools will fool C4D by giving acces to the polygons of the cloned objects for instance.

What problems are you having? Actually C4D’s net render is one of the simpler ones to manage.

Mmh, you can’t really make C4D use the simplified polygonal approximations it uses for OpenGL also use for rendering, but if you adjsut the settings, they should be equal. If you are using XFrog, check the geomtry density for your branches and the other stuff. Also make sure you disable things like “always render perfect) on sphere objects which you may be using in your Hydras.

January 30, 2007 at 3:59 pm in reply to: Taking AE camera and importing into Lightwave…Has anyone done this beforeIt certainly isn’t impossible. If it’s really only one motion, you should try to copy&paste – after all, LW’s motion/envelope/scene file formats are just formatted ASCII. It’s always time in seconds followed by the value in SI units. Create an emty motion file and save it from LW (create a few keys to see how it’s stored), then replace the existing channel data with re-formatted info. Just make sure to bake all animation in AE (add an empty expression, then use the convert Expression to Keyframes keyframe assistant). There is no way to re-create LW’s strange interpolation methods other than with baked linear keys. Just take your time and be patient. Using Excel also helps…

[TonyTony] “Oh to rant or not.
These are the same kinds of things people said when the question was ” I’m going to buy and Intel Mac will AE 7.0 work?”Manaxter, Get the system you want with the OS you want. Load your key applications and try them out. If they work for you than great you get to make a small step forward in the world of computing (even if its windows with a view). If not,
erase the HD and load your current copy of XP, put your apps on and get to work.”Actually you are oversimplifying things, and not just a tiny bit. The real culprit here is: does the system give me the performance I can get from a comparable “conservative” system? The answer here simply is: No. Trust me, I know a ton of users who have tried Vista (the latest release candidates and te pre-relesed final versions), and if nothing else, the lack of proper graphics card drivers for OpenGL-based apps (obviously a lot of those users are 3D artists dependant on that), is a major setback. Other things to consider is the lack of a stable Quicktime release for Vista, potential problems when installing Windows Media components, product activation, incompatibility of CoDecs and whatnot along with the other things I already mentioned. ATM using Vista when working as a member of the digital content creation crowd is just plain stupid and unlike buying a Mac Pro and using Bootcamp, you have no fallback position.

Yes, it does.
[VincentH] “I remember reading somewhere maya had animation clips of some sort.”
Nonlinear animation is an option, not a must-have feature. It builds on existing mechanisms and just presents them in a different way. I suppose it boils down to that they couldn’t finish MOCCA 3 properly to include a proper motion mixer/ track view (as in Maya, or pretty much any other program), so we’ll praobably see it coming in 10.5 or a separate update to the MOCCA module. Goodness, Maxxon are so predictable… *giggle*

It’s the only option now (until a decent mortion mixer comes to C4D). C4D R10 has been adapted to function like other 3D programs in that area (not necessarily for the better, as you see).

Stay away from Vista for the time being. You will have problems on all ends. Encore may not be able to find a disc burner, Premiere may not be able to capture via Firewire and most importantly, OpenGL in AE is going to be a major pain due to drivers being very unsophisticated and so on, and so on. If you are seriously thinking about actually producing anything with the system, going Vista would be the dumbest thing you can do at the moment. Not saying Vista is unusable or something, but give it time to season and wait at least a year.
