[mrshow555] “But is there a way to shoot the two cams 2.5″ apart, each with different polarizing filters and combine the two in post instead of projecting them onto a screen? Does the polarization get captured or is that an optical effect only achievable during live projection?”

Polarization is based on blocking lightwaves with a certain orientation. You cannot capture this in pixels as the values of the “lightpoints” themselves are completely identical. The only difference between them is the angle which always requires some physical separation between either the sender (projectors) or receiver. Because it is angle-based, it is also dependfant on the viewing distance. The red/blue method works differently because it is based on perceptional differences which merely exist inside the human brain.

Check the Trapcode forum, I’ve answered there. Try not to cross-post in the future, it’s ineffective and causes more confusion than it helps solve your problems.

Have you considered transcoding the sources first? Encore will place backup copies of your original files in the source files folder plus MPEG-II transcoded versions. That’s of course going to kill a lot of free space.

February 16, 2007 at 6:58 am in reply to: carving out a logo

Model the logo and the part that is supposed to be the remains after the cutting. Make sure you have some discernible gap between them. Cover up the gap with a SweepNURBS of which you animate the start and end in sync with the water beam. If your logo is more like a relief/ embossing and parts of the logo need to be revealed, not just its contours, use booleans to create the chunks you are going to hose away. Use the Explosion FX object to get some debris like effect. Also try to make everything more interesting by adding water spray and dust from the logo. This will also disguise some minor imperfections.

Getting the compression right is not easy and usually requires some experimentation. I can’t really give you any sensible pointers as I barely ever use FLV (I do not particularly like all Flash-related stuff). Perhaps someone else can be of more help.

No. 3D views are always rendered from the camera.

Your ideas are not to much off, but if you really want to be clever, you should try to wrap your brain around Trapcode’s Particular. You could do most of what you describe with it in a much easier fashion by simply animating an emitter and have your fish follow it by inheriting the emitter’s motion. You could even get a good logo transition by using a time-reversed layer/ layer grid emitter. This would save you some headache since you can always replace the emitter layer even if you don’t know the exact shape and nature of the logo.

Should be no problem. Invogorator and Particular require the latest version specially for AE 7 so you may need to install those, but all otehrs should be a safe bet.

Looks like compression errors. This usually happens when the data rate is too low and there is too much change in the image (your pullout is extremely fast compared to the rest). Might also be some simple clipping glitch (if your map is a 3D layer), but that’s less likely.

Have you tried to use escape characters (“\” or whatever they may be in AppleScript) around your file path? Could possibly help, though I’m just guessing.
