That is rather odd, is there a video clip you can show me that its still having this issue. Curious to see whats going on on your end.

The rectangular one is the .veg file that is usually the one I would open to get the whole project up to date. The circle icon is the .bak file that is use for backup incase the main .veg gets corrupted and lost. The circle one I would imagine it would be used to recover the lost project you had previously. When you save the .veg file, its supposed to also save the .bak file as well. The .veg file is where you are actively working on currently.

Its probably because there is a max resolution limit that is already set on your Premiere Pro. Try increasing the Max Res allowed in your Premiere Pro project settings. In order to do this, need to do the following:

1.) Go to “File” > “Project Settings in Premiere Pro.

2.) Under the “General” tab, look for the “Max resolution” option. By default, this should be set to “Auto.”

3.) Set Max Res higher than the resolution of your adjustment layer. For example, if your current resolution is 1920×1080, you can try setting the maximum resolution to 4K (3840×2160) or even higher if possible.

4.) Click “OK” to save your changes.

This change should allow you to scale up your adjustment layer without the image turning black at a certain point. Best of luck there! 🙂

I believe this can be animated using keyframes and you will need to scale it from large to small or vice versa as you implement more keyframes in the animation. And yeah as long as you have the scaled text inside the box as shown in the pic, it should not get out of it. if it does, it simply cuts off so you will have to set the limits within the box for a fluid animation. One of the alternatives I found online to MatchGrain is the Digital Anarchy’s Grain Effect. Its a plugin that creates grain and noise and has many types of grain that you can choose from.

You can also adjust the size, strength, and type of the grain. It’s compatible with both After Effects and Premiere Pro.

You can download a free trial to test it for yourself so see if it works for you, if you do decide to purchase it, it will cost $199.
