You can also grab the little group of dots near the lock and “rip” it right out of the new “Windows like” organization to it’s own individual location, like by itself on a second monitor…

You might try putting the photo layer 1 pixel above the background page layer in 3D space…AE gets confused when they’re at th exact same (Z?) depth…this will tell AE specifically whch one is on top…

Perhaps Show Layer controls is “toggled off” under the view menu? This would affect all layers, not just comps, tho.

Yeah, if DV quality is OK for you…

Hook camera up to Firewire of computer, AV outputs to monitor and turn camera on to VTR mode. Then goto AE Preferences>Video Preview and select Firewire output. Work like a champ for DV quality…

I’ve had this a few times…do you have an internet conncetion on the machine? I’ve often wondered if it is related to my DSL acquiring an IP address and checking mail or something in the background. I’ve learned to save often.

Chris, I know you’re a big fan of Cinema4D. I’ve downloaded the demo but it looks like there might be a bit of a learning curve…can you recommend any resources, text or ortherwise, for a fairly accomplished AE user wanting to learn C4D…

Right click on a Mac…you mean Control click for me, perhaps? Ah yes, that’s it. I was missing selecting just the single point. Many Thanks!
