    is it possible to preview through the firewire camera, then to monitor? or do I need to get a card like the deckilnk cards? If it works, is it an accurate output?

    Yeah, if DV quality is OK for you…

    Hook camera up to Firewire of computer, AV outputs to monitor and turn camera on to VTR mode. Then goto AE Preferences>Video Preview and select Firewire output. Work like a champ for DV quality…
