You will need to make a Custom Preset that matches the attributes of your source footage…640×480, 1.0Par, etc
OR simply stretch the video on the timeline in your existing project, horizontally by 11.1% (1.0 divided by .9). -
It is going to be impossible to key out that background. The colors in the foreground (head) and background colors are way too similar.
You could animate a mask in After Effects, but that would be extremely time consuming and the results would not be very clean.
Reshoot in front of a green screen. -
If your output is DVD and you put all your eggs in one sequence, yes you will probably need to render the whole thing again.
One can get creative with an app like VideoRedo and stitch just the rendered work area into the existing Mpeg file, but that is fraught with pitfalls.I would typically create at least 3 or 4 Mpeg files from as many sequences for Encore, just for your reason. This will be easier with CS4’s batch encoding.

After Effects has lots of animation presets including text.

Try opening a new project and import the troubled Project file into that.

Yes, RAM= Random Access Memory. A process of elimination could reveal a bad stick.

What size is your Project file (.prproj)?
Could be bad memory. try trying removing half the memory and retry, then try the other half.

H264 is not HDV. You may be able to import into CS4, but smooth preview will require Quad core stuff.

Just a few basics;
First, Premiere’s Project settings must match the camera’s mode…DV or HDV.
Second, if HDV is set for both camera and Premiere, “Down convert” must be turned off in the camera. -

Dont know what you did…what were your export settings? What is the resolution of your source video? Is your export for local playback, web, DVD??
