Exporting from AE an Animation Millions of Colors Plus..overlay video in Pro…all works fine for me (OHCI). Is your setup using a Matrox/Conopus card?

Not sure about the “scratch” thingy…old film look?
Slow mo= right click on the clip in the timeline and choose Speed/Duration and enter a value less than 100% Make sure the outpoint is not blocked by another clip. -
Capture from still cameras, DVD camcorders and Mpeg 4 camcorders and obvioulsy editing capabilites of these will fill a need for us that have customers with these types of footage…even Cell Phones!!

I have found that a perfectly running setup often runs amuck when a client is watching…you will have hundreds of clients watching!! Switching between analog out (PowerPoint) and firewire out (Pro) might complicate things even more. I would put everything on a DVD (including PowerPoint Jpegs)) with menu and play off a single DVD stand alone player.

Often error messages are confusing….Check the location of your Preview Files scratch disc (Edit>preferences)…is it full?

Pro’s default capture setting is both video and audio…click the little “more” button in the capture window.
Pro wont captue channels 3 and 4 from camcorders, ScenalyzerLive can (as a .wave file).
Other issue might involve a 12 bit Project setting and 16 bit audio on the tape. -
Realtime playback of video with effects applied can either be pixelated or choppy…your choice under Playback Settings…Automatic, Draft or High Quality. OR you can render preview files and get a “real preview”.

I find that my PC monitors are considerably darker than my TV. I would not think of editing video (for TV) without previewing Pro’s timeline om an TV. Lots of other issues besides levels…safe colors, font, safe areas, filed issues, etc. A TV is a different animal than a PC monitor.
