Check the Effects on video at about that time. I had double effects applied to a clip and it stalled Mpeg 2 export.

It is the stills that suck RAM…about 5 times the actual file size of each pic. Rendering preview files should help.

I use a Canopus ADVC 50 and a ADS Pyro A/V link…the latter is about $160 (B&H)…came with Premiere Elements which I sold for a few bucks.
Both work well. -
Most likely that your project settings dont match the properties of captured video….NTSC-PAL…normal or widescreen mode. Check the “Properties” of your captured video.

Preview at any resolution other than 100% will not show accurate display. Best preview is to a TV.

Dont have Multicam, but cant imagine one hard drive reading 4 streams at the same time (2 video + 2 CFA). I would crash! One drive may read 2 CFA files fine, but I would think it would take 2 more drives for the video files and idealy a forth drive for the system.

If Window’s media player will play the files you can covert them to a Premiere friendly codec using one of zillion media converters….a good free one is VirtualDub.

Your previous PC may have had a third party capture card…Pinnacle or Canopus which uses a proprietary codec supported by the hardware card. Your AVI files can be converted to Microsoft DirectShow, but only on a PC with the above capture card.

You can sit and watch the audio mixer master VU meter and lower each clips volume as it peaks into the red. OR right click on each audio clip and choose “audio options” and the Normalize option which might result in a negative suggestion. If you have more than one audio track playing at the same time, even though each track does not peak into the red, the combination or sum of multiple tracks can cause the master VU to peak into the red.
