Encoder settings influence speed…2 pass VBR is twice as slow as 1 pass CBR. Setting the Image Quality slider to 50 will increase speed greatly…almost realtime ona 3.0 P4.
Using Preview files as a source for Mpeg encoding would cause a generational loss.

The card is not supported and wont work with Premiere.

Do the black bars appear on your external monitor? If not, you may have Premiere’s monitor window display setting to something other than “Fit”.

Capturing via firewire makes no changes to the video, but choosing a Premiere widescreen project preset will leave black bars on both sides of 4:3 video.

Premiere cant capture the second audio channel…Scenalyzer can as an extra wave file.

What does Device Manager display when “Computer” is expanded? Is there a BIOS setting similar to Pentium based motherboards that enable the second processor?

Still cant duplicate your problem…use File>Export>Movie…QT Animation, Millions+ I still get the first frame of the video when opened in QT player 7.03.

Just tried a test…no black frame here using the Adobe Media encoder/QT Sorenson 3/256k preset. Opened the file in QT player and there is the first poster frame.

Common problem…audio from the timeline can go to a DV device or your PC speakers )not both)…you choose in Playback Settings.

You can turn off HT in Windows…with Premiere running, run Task Manager and select the Processes tab. Right click on Premiere.exe and choose “Set Affinity” and deselect Processor 1, leaving Processor 0 checked.
