Just put together an AMD Opteron 165 dual processor machine, but PPro boots saying it sees one processor. Something wrong? Do I need to re-install? Thanks.

What does Device Manager display when “Computer” is expanded? Is there a BIOS setting similar to Pentium based motherboards that enable the second processor?

Aren’t the 100 series Opterons designed for single processor systems? The dual processor chips are the 200 series.

The 165 is a dual-core chip. One socket – two cores = 2 cpus. A 265 Opteron is a dual core as well. Two sockets – two cores = 4 cpus.

Is this PPro 2.0 or 1.x? What is your system config?

Now it shows “multi processors” after starting the program for the THIRD time. Strange.
