“Only one processor detected”
Posted by Rich Rosen on January 19, 2006 at 1:55 amJust put together an AMD Opteron 165 dual processor machine, but PPro boots saying it sees one processor. Something wrong? Do I need to re-install? Thanks.

January 19, 2006 at 12:29 pmWhat does Device Manager display when “Computer” is expanded? Is there a BIOS setting similar to Pentium based motherboards that enable the second processor?

January 19, 2006 at 2:10 pmAren’t the 100 series Opterons designed for single processor systems? The dual processor chips are the 200 series.

January 19, 2006 at 4:16 pmThe 165 is a dual-core chip. One socket – two cores = 2 cpus. A 265 Opteron is a dual core as well. Two sockets – two cores = 4 cpus.
