hello, i’ve been having problems with ram and premiere pro 1.5.1.

i’m working on a project that contains dozens of linked psd, tga, and avi clips. i’m editing my video, and when i playback a preview using the play button, i notice premiere is sucking up *alot* of ram to playback the previews from the timeline. i thought i didn’t have enough ram (1 gig), so i went out to buy an additional 1 gig of ram. i now have 2 gigs of ram, and when i playback my timeline, premiere is *still* sucking up alot of ram, to the point i get a black screen in the preview area – most likely because there isn’t any more ram left. from the task manager, i noticed premiere taking 1.4 gigs of ram. insane. i had more complex projects, and this kind of issue never seem to have occured.

    any insight is greatly appreciated.

    best,

    patrick

It is the stills that suck RAM…about 5 times the actual file size of each pic. Rendering preview files should help.
