Premiere does fairly well with Windows Media, but not with Xvid. Use VirtualDub to convert to a DV codec if you have one installed or uncompressed (huge!).

The ripple edit tool will allow you to extend the out point of your clip and push (ripple) the following clips in all tracks down the timeline.

Premiere real time preview feature only works well with DV or rendered preview files (also DV) from other formats. The red line over your wmv in the timeline indicates that it needs to be rendered to give a REAL preview…just hit the Enter key and wait.

Without Sorenson Professional codec 3 on your PC, Premiere and QT Pro cannot do quality video encoding for the web, except QT Pro can export good quality Mpeg 4 (h264)with options for custom sizes and several HD presets. Audio Presets to 320 kbps. The downside is that the audience must have QT 7 player installed.

Premiere does not automatically render previews in RAM like AE. The real time preview feature is limited by your hardware setup and/or effects applied to the video. To get a REAL preview, position the work area bar over the area you need to inspect, hit the Enter key to render to disk that area.

Just tried it;
make a New title and close it. Reopen it and choose Title>New Title>Based on current title. Make changes and close it. Reopen one or both.
Works fine here. -
Is it possible that frames where dropped during capture? Sounds like the frames are just missing.

Is your video Mpeg? Mpeg has no frames as such, only Groups of Pictures (GOPs) which are 10-20 frames in length, but only contains one actual frame. Makes editing a pain. Convert to DV.avi and then edit.

Hollywood FX is one of my favorites for use in end of year school videos and other kid productions. As Pinnacle had a fall out with Adobe, they (now Avid) dont advertise that it will work with Premiere, but it can be made to just fine.

Windows Media Video is the most common form of web video…when your sequence is finished; File>Export>Adobe Media Encoder. Choose Windows Media as the Format and the 256K NTSC preset.
