    Hello,

When clips are played back in the preview monitor plays perfect but when played from the timeline the timeline playback monitor garbelled image but sounds plays fine. Sometimes a coloured garbleed screen or ablank screen.

The clips are encoded in X-VID MPEG4 the playback options has been set up in dobe Premeire Pro 1.5 to use the XVID MPEG4 codec.

Anyone have any ideas why the clip plays fine in the preview and trimming modes but plys a blank video or garbelled sreen on the playback monitor in Adobe Prmeire Pro 1.5?

NLE’s are not designed to edit distribution codecs. You have to convert to an editable format.

Premiere does fairly well with Windows Media, but not with Xvid. Use VirtualDub to convert to a DV codec if you have one installed or uncompressed (huge!).
