If things were working fine, try a System Restore to a date before the problem began.

Your perceptions are mostly accurate.
First, there is no translation of sequence marker numbers between Premiere and Encore. Entries in Premiere’s marker dialog box are text only and Encore is going to always keep markers in numerical sequence.
I may be dreaming, but there was/is a feature or plug-in that would allow for export of a text file listing the sequence times for each sequence marker. -
You will have better luck with Premiere Elements 3.0 and editing files other than DV.

Premiere Elements 3 can play most any video that will play in Windows Media Player.

Any firewire gadgets attached other than DV out? Virus scan running?

It is actually the Main Concept Mpeg encoder that is not included in the trial.

Cam,tasia and Powerpoint are not designed for TV. A generational loss occurs during screen capture, another during export as uncompressed and a third when recompressed as Mpeg. A larger problem is the font size…looks sharp at 1024 x 768 on a CRT but not at 720 x 480 on a TV. Unsafe colors buzz, worse is white and red. Safe areas…
For best results capture your screen as still bitmaps and apply motion and cursor in Premiere. -
Harm is right, editing in the timeline is clunky.
We use 2 cams with the internal clocks matched. Capture with Scenalyzer Live creates file names with the date/time in the file name. Importing these files into Premiere sorts them chronologically.
I create 2 sections for the DVD;
1. The ceremony, 2 cam edited in real time.
2. Highlights of the day, beginning with the before stuff (tape flowers and guests and interviews), highlights of the ceremony, the reception and drive off. I try to keep it simple but use slow-mo and blurs where appropriate.BTW…i hate weddings!

Camtasia records screen capture to a proprietary Tech-Smith codec with a .camrec file extension which can only be edited in Camtasia. While it looks fine, exporting from Camtasia involves recompressing to an output codec for local or web playback such as Flash or Windows Media, but no consideration for TV playback. Your best bet is to choose “Full Frames (Uncompressed)”. The file will be huge! Then recompress as Mpeg 2 for DVD or export to tape.

Try deleting Premiere’s preference file…Hold the Shift and CTRL keys down while launching Premiere until you are asked to choose A/B or Single track editing.
