Mono to tape? DV tape? All the camcorders and decks I have seen record audio in stereo.
Mono is fine for streaming web video as it saves bitrate, but most of the world listens to stereo TV and small TVs will play both tracks though one tiny speaker. -
Apply “Fill Left” or “Fill Right” from the audio effects pallete. This will copy one channel’s onto the other resulting in one mic’s audio on both channels.

In the Audio Mixer, change the “Automation Mode” from Read to Write for the audio track target. Start playing the timeline and move the slider. Keyframes will be created but not visable unless you change the audio track “Show Keyframes” mode from “Show Clip Keyframes” to “Show Track Keyframes”. This is done at the left end of the audio track in the timeline.
BEWARE: The keyframes are in the track, not on any clip. In the “Show Track Keyframe” mode you cannot move the audio clips (and linked video) until you switch back to “Show clip keyframes”. If you do move the clips then, all bets are off and you will die a slow death!! -
I use Pro Show Gold to create DVD picture shows. Random Motion effects and transitions, easy duration changes to selected group of pics or transitions. Really easy motion setting changes. Could not live without it.

Rendered preview files serve only for preview or export to DV tape. If you dont need them, delete em.
Also if you have a lot of excess footage that wont be used in the project, the Project Manager can consolidate your assests, but you will need , at least temporarily a lot of hard drive space to create this folder and then delete the original DV files. -
What file system does the external drive have?? FAT 32 or NTSF? You need NTSF for files over 4 GB.
Just curious, why would you export a 360 x 240 uncompressed file? -
Premiere 1.5 had this issue…fixed with a 1.51 update.
Rendered preview files are not used for anything but previews. -
What are the properties of this 13 GB file?
Did you export it from Premiere? -
Use the Storm’s analog out (composite/S/video) to feed directly to a monitor for preview.

There is something kinky with DV preview out in 2.0. I know of one system that DV out wont work until the Playback settings window is opened and the External Device drop down is opened and then closed, even though the only device (DV 29.97i (720×480) was selected by default. 3-4 seconds later the preview begins!
On another system I had preview issues which were fixed by reloading Windows.
I seldom see issues on new computers and suspect other video apps, even Premiere Elements can screw things up for Premiere.
