I have just received a Sony DSR-11 today and am excited about not using our DVX100a as a feeder anymore. I hooked the DSR-11 to the firewire of the DV Storm and outputs of the DSR-11 S-Video/composite audio to the monitor. We use Premiere Pro 1.5, but I have the 2.0 upgrade ready to go. I have no device control and can’t get a timeline playing through the DSR-11. HELP. Thanks.

DVStorm has no OHCI firewire connector, get rid of it. Use OHCI compliant firewire or you ar in for a lot of trouble. You could use the DVStorm very effectively as a doorstopper.

Use the Storm’s analog out (composite/S/video) to feed directly to a monitor for preview.

    Mike,

That’s what the current set-up is. I have the S-Video going to the monitor and composite audio going to the monitor and the fire wire going to the DVX100a. When I plugged in the DSR-11 and left the rest of the set-up the same the deck was not recognized.

THERE IS NO FIREWIRE ON THE DVSTORM!!!!!!!!!

It uses a similar connector, but it is not OHCI compliant. End of story.

    Harm,

I had a fire card on the back of the system with three inputs that was OHCI compliant and it works fine now. I would still love another video card. The Canopus worked ok with PPro 1.5, but don’t know enough of what’s out there on the PC side of things. I am a FCP editor outside of here. And please do not say Matrox. Their support sucks pretty bad. Great products, but no support. End of story.

    Steve,

I know the agony of capture cards. I have used the DVRaptor, DVStorm and Matrox RT.X100.

Luckily I have sold them all and only work with OHCI with PremPro without problems.

It still should work with a DSR-11, I’ve used it with one for years before I sold it in anticipation of buying a HDV deck.

    Harm,

Thanks for your help. Onward and upward with the firewire card and my DSR-11. Thanks again.
