Try your camera in another PC.

Only when it is exported to DVD using a 16:9 preset, the Mpeg encoder adds a “switch” that is read by many DVD players that gives the 16:9 aspect ratio on a TV.

Most DVD authoring apps expect 2 elementary streams…less sync issues.

On the Export Setting page of Adobe Media encoder, select Export Audio and THEN about 75 pixels south of that button, click the Multiplex tab and choose DVD.

Ouch! I have 3 cams with fried firewire controllers…all done on a PC with a faulty PCI slot in the motherboard.

Slim chance; with a light and magnifying glass look at the firewire port and see if there is bubble gum or bent pins.

Most Pros that I know preview video on its intended target…if for SD DVD, then on a NTSC monitor. Same for HD ATSC targets. Web, local playback and other devices are previewed on a PC monitor.

Audio Preview is similar, except many folks will preview audio on reference monitors via souncard AND maybe a typical TV with speakers if the target is a TV. If not then reference monitor via soundcard and typical PC speakers.

In Premiere you can choose which way the audio goes (Playback Settings)

Some delay is normal and that is why audio can only be played back either on the PC or DV but not both (they would be out of sync). Is there a problem?

You can record an audio track (from a mic) while previewing; In Premiere’s Help, enter “recording audio”. Read that page and the red link at the bottom of the page (to record audio”.

[release2] “Why won’t the track matte animate like it’s supposed to?”

The short answer is it works much like that in version 2.0.

In 1.5 there is a convoluted recipe of importing Sequence 1 into a new sequence, duplicating tracks, reducing opacity of V2 so you could see V1 and it gave me a headache to animate the dam thing.

But it has been a year and the memory of the pain and the recipe has diminished. I hope someone can remember the sordid details.

Smells more like you exported “elementary streams” (separate audio and video files} which is the default for Mpeg 2 for DVD. Look back in the same folder as your video for a .wav file of the same name…

Yeh, it is a AE thingy…I just tested and enabling “Stretch” in the output module settings, Selecting NTSC DV from the drop down menu and then deselecting 3:2 option creates a .09 PAR file that Premiere see fine.
