In CS2. after creating your new style, open the Style palette wing menu and choose “New Style” to create a preset to be applied later.
-
The are copy and paste Layer Style options available under Layer>Layer Style.
Unfortunately there is no way to save a layer style as a new preset in Elements as in the full version. I created a .psd with my favorite text styles for later copy/paste use. -
Are you capturing DV via firewire?
You may have a tape with dis contiguous or broken time code. This is often caused by previewing on the camcorder’s LCD and overshooting the end of the recording, restarting the timecode. You may have to manually control the camera directly. -
I also have fried a CPU. Overclocking creates an instable OS, the last thing one wants when working for a living with an app that pushes everything to the limit.

March 29, 2007 at 7:51 pm in reply to: adding folder of pdf docs to interactive DVD-ROM in DVDSP4?There is another world of authoring round shiny discs for interactive whatever. Apps like Flash, Multimedia Builder or Director have been doing this for years.
When a round shiny disc (DVD or CD) is inserted into the DVD_CD ROM Windows Looks for:
1. A .inf file for instructions to launch/play somethingAND
2. A file/folder that Windows has had past experience with and was given instruction to “Do this every time…” such has play a video DVD (VIDEO_TS).
After you learn how to author in the aforementioned “another world”, you could burn the VIDEO_TS folder and also the files needed for a PC interactive disc.
The best results you could expect is that your interactive program begins. But if the PC has played Video DVDs in the past, Windows Media Player will launch as well or instead of the PC interactive program.
I suspect the results would be unpredictable. -
If the video plays on Windows Media Player, Premiere is just not going to be able to edit your clip. You could use one of a dozen or so media converts like VirtualDub, but the quality will suffer and when you finish editing it and export it…another quality hit.
Premiere Elements can handle highly compressed video better than Pro. -
I dont have experience with Matrox, but this sounds just like Canopus reference files. The “movie.avi” file has all the audio for the captured video plus it has info where the captured video is located…ie referencing the special files that contain the video. These special files are limited to 2 GB so there may be many. Changing the path to these files makes an incredible mess.

This is the normal workflow.

3rd party capture cards and Premiere use a hardware enabled codec for editing. Does Matrox offer a DV converter app to convert these clips to Microsoft DV? Then these clips could be edited in a new project.
