Do not get it…I had captured footage on this laptop before. I tried using an external drive as well.
When I try to capture footage, I get an error message that says
“Can’t find capture inpoint. Try increasing preroll?”
Not sure what I’m doing wrong
    Any help is appreciated.

Are you capturing DV via firewire?
You may have a tape with dis contiguous or broken time code. This is often caused by previewing on the camcorder’s LCD and overshooting the end of the recording, restarting the timecode. You may have to manually control the camera directly.

I have this new hp 96000 laptop with vista. I’m also using 1.0 pp . I took the same tape on the same recorder to a different machine and it works just fine. I had used this laptop already with the same source deck and had not problem capturing. Not sure what I still might be doing wrong?
    Thank you for your help.

What about VISTA, Viruses, Infections, Serious errors, Totally Aggravating. It is not supported.

Wow. This is strange. If I upgrade to 2.0, vista is supported..is that right?
    thank you

No. VISTA is not supported. That is probably the cause of your problems.

Premiere Pro CS3 supports Vista 32 bit and there will be a public beta in a few weeks.
