Computer not responding to GL-1
I’m having a problem with my GL-1 not responding to the computer when I hook it up. It responds to my other small Canon camera. The problem is that my small camera has some drop-out issues when I capture with it.
Is there any reason why the GL-1 would stop responding? It worked fine until a couple of weeks ago.

Ouch! I have 3 cams with fried firewire controllers…all done on a PC with a faulty PCI slot in the motherboard.
Slim chance; with a light and magnifying glass look at the firewire port and see if there is bubble gum or bent pins.

I doubt it’s a faulty PCI slot. It’s been working fine for a couple of years and it still works with another Canon cam. Any suggestions about making it work with the GL1 again?
A friend suggested that the driver that recognizes the cam may have gone corrupt. But wouldn’t it stop recognizing the other cam as well? Also, how would I go about finding that specific driver if that is the case?

Try your camera in another PC.

Like Mike says, try it on another PC with a different cable, I just had a firewire connector on a cam break a finger contact and had to send it in for repair.

So my other little Canon stopped working with the computer as well. I have tried both cameras on 2 other computers with different cables.
So how would a faulty PCI slot damage something inside the camera?
