Did you go into the Blackmagic Control Panel (under Windows Control Panel/Hardware and Sound) and set the input for HDMI, and the resolution for 1280×720? The settings have to be done in both the Blackmagic Control Panel, and in Media Express.

Do this:
Set laptop to 1920×1080/60
Go into Windows Control Panel/Appearance and Personalization/Adjust Screen Resolution/
Make sure the BMD monitor is highlighted
Click on “Advanced Settings”
Click on the “Monitor” tab
In the refresh rate drop-down, choose interlaced.
Click Apply.

Be forewarned, if you connect the GoPro 2 directly to the BMD HDMI-to-SDI mini-converter, and you have it set to 1080 in the GoPro, the mini-converter will set it to 1080p, not 1080i. Not sure if the TriCaster supports 1080p or not.
I believe 720p works just fine.
If you need 1080i out of the GoPro, you need to use a Gefen HDMI Detective in-between the GoPro and the mini-converter. Obviously, after you’ve set up the HDMI Detective (stored the EDID from the TriCaster).

The two big names are Red Giant and Boris, I use some from both.

Uncompressed SD is about 1GB per minute, HD is about 7GB per minute. (Assuming 8-bit 4:2:2).

You’re probably capturing in uncompressed. Try MJPEG (motion jpeg), it gives nice results, and really cuts down on the file sizes.

I try to keep normal dialog between -12dB and -10dB, and any loud sounds (yelling, explosions, etc) at no more than -6dB. As we all know, you can always raise the audio, but once it’s distorted, there is little to do that can fix it.

Why not send your HD sequence straight to Encore (via Dynamic Link)? This will use AME to do the scaling.

I would consider adding a Blackmagic ATEM TVS in the mix. It’s a nice HD switcher, and you can stream live out of it.

Yeah, I’m trying to get away from BluRay H.264, I just want to use the regular H.264 export. The problem is the bug with interlaced content, that’s what I’m trying to find out about CS6.
