Wow, learn something new everyday. Been using CS5.5 for over a year, and always used the levels (hated that you could only raise it 6dB).

btw, to the OP, almost all of my background music needs to be lowered by a good -18dB. This also happened in FCP, so I think it’s just the way our audio catalog was mastered.

Yes, that system will be able to run two monitors.
I made the jump from Mac to PC last year, haven’t regretted it at all.
Since CS6 on Windows can import ProRes, it isn’t an issue for me in the least. DXnHD is more than enough.
If you really don’t need to export to ProRes, I say sell the Mac, and use that money for the PC or any extra gear you may need.
Also, stick to Windows 7, don’t go to Windows 8. Win7 is very stable.

We use a JVC GY-HM790U, mic into the camera, video and audio over HD-SDI (no converters) into an ATEM TVS. We haven’t noticed any major problems with the audio.

Try deleting the cache files.

Two questions:
1. Are you using any kind of splitters for the audio?
2. Have you tried removing the ground from the audio sources and destinations? (Try removing the ground from the XLR cable)

September 30, 2012 at 3:29 pm in reply to: Best / simplest audio solution into ATEM Television Studio?I’ll have to get with our engineer for a good de-embedder, but, since you have the Yamaha and Behringer, you already have all the equipment you need.
Connect the mics to the Yamaha, Yamaha to the Behringer, Behringer XLR to the AES input of the TVS. If you have audio delay, the Behringer can fixed that.
Also, now you can monitor audio via the Behringers other outputs, such as S/PDIF out to an audio receiver.
This is the correct way for audio, as now you can control the mix properly and quickly (via the Yamaha mixer). Plus, you can add more audio sources, depending upon how many channels your mixer has. In our studio, that’s exactly how we do it (and we too have a Yamaha mixer).
EDIT:
I need to correct a couple of things:1. That Behringer model does not do audio delay, the DEQ2496 does, but you may not have a problem with audio delay.
2. To get audio from the Behringer to the TVS, use the RCA digital output from the Behringer (with a RCA to BNC cable). This way, you don’t need an impedance matcher, as the Behringer’s output is 75ohms, the same as the TVS’s AES input.
3. The Behringer has a headphone output to monitor audio.

I still think the cheapest way is to use HDMI, either going into a HDMI monitor with speakers, or if you just want audio, an audio receiver with HDMI inputs. You could always add a monitor for video later going that route.

You’ll just have to trust that audio is being streamed as well. To test it, use another computer to download the stream.

September 27, 2012 at 10:39 pm in reply to: Best / simplest audio solution into ATEM Television Studio?Yes, with a firmware update a month or so ago, SDI and HDMI now passes audio on the inputs of all ATEMs. If it’s coming over SDI or HDMI, it should be in sync.
