Hello Chris,
Yes we are all in the same boat. Its like taking a long trip….
Do you go and start exploring? Or do you stay home and wait for
the perfect time?? Do I have enough money? What will the weather be like?
Will I get sick? Will I get ripped off? Will I get lost?Same thing in the video world….But many, many people are taking the
journey even if it is not going to be perfect. My website is:
and many, many intrepid wanderers have decided to take the journey with me…………….

The HVX is far exceeding my clients expectations. I am most critical of any work I do. I have edited side by side, HVX, VariCam and CineAlta Footage. Yes the higher end cameras do deliver a crisper picture, but not by much. And if you go to SD the differences are even less. We have over 200 clips and counting on our web-site. SO far all have been shot with the HVX. I am getting in new footage everyday and I am amazed by what I see. All the clips are converted to WMV HD for finally QC checks on our HDTV. I have not been disappointed by what I see. We are getting some shooters who have submitted VariCam & CineAlta footage, as they get it and understand that the future is here and not 2-3 years from now!

I 2nd Barrys post. We have done extensive shooting in 720 24pN.
Even with only 2-4 gig cards and a laptop you can do plenty
of the kind of shooting you are talking about. Editing is easy
and without the usual technical baggage that HD use to bring.
As far as H.264 and SD to DVD you will be impressed with the results.
Good Shooting!!Mike Schrengohst

Did you see this
https://www.moviola.com/Cameras/C_P2_faq.htmland the Panasonic .pdf??
The P2 store will not work correctly unless
you have the proper drivers installed on the computer
you are trying to use it with. -

Here is a great FAQ on P2 store interfacing with the MAC.
Did you have the P2 store formatted correctly.
The biggest problem I have seen when renting
equipment is not having the proper drivers installed.https://www.moviola.com/Cameras/C_P2_faq.html

If you waited until the P2 store was full and then discovered that your computer did not like it……??

Close that project, pick the easy set-up for 720 24p.
The DVCPRO HD clips will not play
in the HDTV 1280×720 set-up.
It needs to play with the DVCPRO HD
compressor setting -
Look at FCP 5.1 will work with 1080 24pA footage now.
For a feature I would think having a 1080 24p master
would be the way to go. But it all depends on what you
are trying to achieve. The 720 24pN mode is quality wise
the same as 720 24p. The 720 24p mode shoots in over 60fps
mode. The 720 24pN mode only records 24 fps so thats why
you can get 10 min per 4 gig card. The 1080 24p mode
will only give you 4 min per 4 gig card. I know many
shooters have successfully up converted a 720p master
with good results. But for a film stick to either
720 24pN or 1080 24pA.
