But if you are using either two of those formats you don’t need a capture card.

Or get a cheap PC for the same price! The P2 viewer is free for the PC. Use it all the time and I edit on FCP.

I have been editing some tests with DVCPRO HD.
FCP 5.1 does have a DVCPRO HD 1080 24p sequence.

FCP 5.1 is the same as 5.0.4 when it comes to .mxf,
I have also ordered Canopus and use the P2 viewer on the
PC all the time. Once you get the P2 info to QT in FCP
it is easy to edit. I am receiving .mxf files and need
something that will read them as well. I have used Raylight

RED has not recorded to anything yet. It will be awhile. You might see a working Prototype NAB 2007. And yes by then the HD technology will catch up. And P2 cards in a year will be half of what they are now. Believe me Mr. Panasonic and Mr. Sony are taking notes while Mr. RED pumps up the big tent.

I will plunk money down for RED when I see it.
And $17,500 is just for the body, add Lens the only
one they announced is a 300MM for $5000
Storage ?? -$1000-$10,000
And the other stuff Batteries etc,
I think people were saying $40,000 for everything.
Plus it will be awhile before we can 4K material,
unless Apple, AVID, Adobe get on-board??
