I don’t know what other files you’ve tried but a WMV render only gives one file.
Please list your render procedure, step by step.

What format are you rendering to?

  • First of all, the last release of Pro 9 was 9.0e so I strongly suggest that you upgrade to it for all the bug fixes (and there were a lot in d and e).
Secondly, that version of QuickTime is a bit too old. I’m using 7.7.1 on my work and home machine and have no problems reading mp4 files.

Years later, and your helpful comment is still saving hours and hours of potentially ruined projects. Thanks a million! (P.S. I created a Creative Cow account just to be able to write a note to you and personally thank you!)”

The gift that keeps on giving 🙂
Fidor, I’m very glad that my tip was able to help you!!

Does VMS not have this View option?

[Rick Hughes] “ck to an earlier point when the ‘edited file’ appears on time line …should there be a label ?

i.e. I could have 2 very similar audio tracks, how can I tell which is which”

To see what I had on my screenshots, use View > Active Take Information.
    Ctrl+shift+i is the shortcut key.

Rick, I don’t know what else to suggest. I just tried it on my work machine (running Pro 10) and it works as expected for me.

    Option #1.
Render it out using Vegas as an mp4 file using the appropriate MainConcept AVC/AAC Internet HD 1080p template that you’ve modified to match the required settings.
NOTE: In Pro 10, Vegas used the Sony AVC/AAC Internet HD 1080p template for this and it has a CBR of 16,000,000 so I would do some short quality tests starting with that number and adjust accordingly.
Once you render it, change the extension from mp4 to mov and give it to him. I’ve done this several times for both Avid and FCP users and no one has noticed anything 🙂

    Option #2.
Both of you download and install the free Avid DNxHD QuickTime codec.
You then follow the tutorial on how to use it on John Rofrano’s site at Avid DNxHD Template for Vegas Pro

What kind of footage is on your timeline?
Do your render settings match your project settings?
Is GPU render on or off?
Does it crash at the same spot each time?
What kind of FX are you using?
What are the specs on your computer (OS, RAM, CPU, etc.)?
