    Excellent suggestion Gary.
I do this all the time for long-form events such as graduations and plays and it works like a charm 🙂
Tape is still rolled as a back-up but I haven’t had to use it yet.

Sony Knowledgebase Answer ID still says:

Our licensing agreement permits you to install the software on as many machines as you own, as long as you are not running the programs at the same time. For instance, you can install the software on your home machine and on your laptop. You are not allowed to install the software on multiple machines if you are going to be using them simultaneously, such as in a home studio setting. If you are going to run the software concurrently on more than one machine, you would need to purchase a separate license for each computer.

Note that when you install the software on a different computer you will need to complete the registration process again. Register the software as you did the first time to unlock the program on each machine. You can register online directly within the software, via the phone, or on our website through our online form.

  • You can try experimenting with the Lens Flare FX.
Add 2 or 3 (or more) of them and play with key frames, positioning, intensity and colour to make it interesting.

  • The Sony white paper I referred you to in the other post specifically address the “print to tape” procedure for 24p (pages 5 & 6).
Have a look through it and make sure you’re following their steps.

I haven’t used any of this software but the installation instructions are generally included in the software package, sometimes as a readme file.
Both DSE/Spot (Ultimate S) and Edward (Excalibur) are regulars here and I’m sure they’ll be happy to help out.

If they’re made for Vegas, usually all you have to do is double-click the exe file and it’ll install to the proper folder.
If not, then telling us which ones they are would help.

    i have a numbered sequence of 50 pngs named img1.png to img50.png….

Get into the habit of using as many trailing digits as you have images.
In this case, name your images img01.png, img02.png, etc. and you won’t have any issues.
With animation sequences of 1,000 images or more, it’s imperative that this be done.

Welcome to the “not seeing the answer when it’s staring me in the face” club 🙂
We’ve all been there, done that – and anyone who hasn’t is a liar!!

Why are you rendering it out as 29.97?
You can do a print-to-tape or DVD from your 24p timeline.
The Sony 24p whitepaper (PDF format) has a lot of excellent information on doing this with this camera.

“We do burn at the highest possible speeds. According to engineers at Evatone (our replicator), the highest failure rates are found in slow burn/1-4x burned DVDs. DiscMakers has said the same thing to u”

Douglas, first of all, welcome back!!
    Your comments are very interesting.
I’ve always operated under the warnings from the audio CD days and that was to burn at the lowest possible speed, especially if you were sending somethng in to be mastered.
Have I been wrong all these years or does the slow speed burn rule apply to audio CDs only?
