TJ, I’m really curious as to what .mxf players and converters you’re using as I deal with post houses who prefer ProRes files which of course I can’t give them 🙁

Sad to say but that’s the standard recommendation.

Joel, the bad news is that I couldn’t get Vegas to open it either 🙁
The good news is that I was able to use Handbrake (it’s free and a great utility) to save it out as an mp4 file that Vegas said “hey, I can play that file!!”.

Is there any chance of putting up a small clip on a site such as Dropbox so that we can see if it plays on our computer?

What does it say next to Format in Movie Inspector?
Where did the mov files originally come from? -
Joel, next to Format, my screenshot says Apple ProRes.
Does yours say anything? -

Be warned that a lot of folks have had problems with the latest version.

Using QuickTime Player, go Window – Show Movie Inspector.
Here are two screenshots from different ProRes files from an FCP shop that I can play without any problems.

I rarely have problems loading .mov files.
What version of Vegas are you using?
What version of QuickTime player are you using?
What kind of mov files are they (i.e. what does Movie Inspector say about them)?
