    Hi Noah,

The headphone jack isn’t broken. I can monitor the audio playback when the camera is in the VCR mode function. The levels are great. The audio levels recorded to tape are great. The only issue is that I can not hear the audio via the headphone jack while I’m actually recording the interview.

Does your camera allow you to hear the audio being recorded into your camera via the headphone jack at an acceptable level?

    Hi Don,

Thanks for your reply. I used the standard FCP Basic DV NTSC settings to digitize some of the footage. When I check the footage properties info it states that the footage is 29.97 lower field dominate. If it is progressive then I expected there to be there be no fields? What am I not understanding?

    Thanks,

    Mike

Thanks for the info. Any idea how come when I open up HDV 720p 24 footage in quicktime and select Get Info it shows this info 1280 x 720 (1248 x 702) under the format section. What does the 1248×702 numbers represent?

    Thanks,

    Mike

    Hi Jeremy,

Sending it over without rendering did the trick. I would not have thought of that. Have you ever used ultimatte for keying? If so how did you like it? It was not my choice to do the keying in FCP.

Understandable. Why would you when your doing uncompressed HD. Duh. I do appreciate the info you were able to provide. If I run into trouble I will insist on getting a Kona card.

    Cheers

    Hi Gary,

As I do not yet have a Kona card (should have one soon) after I’m done editing with FCP using a 24p timeline how to I lay back to tape using Firewire? It sounds like I need to add the pull down in order for it to play back correctly. Is this correct? If so will Cinema Tools be an option?

    Thanks for your help.
