I rented a friends AG-DVX100. Not the A not the B the original prior to A release. I was recording a talking head interview in an office.

I had a Sennheiser 416 connected to the XLR input jack #02 on the camera. The level was set to mic. The audio recorded to tape fine. For the life of me during the shoot I could see that the levels were fine but I could not hear anything via my headphones that were connected to the head phone jack. I attempted to turn up the audio monitor buttons that are on the top of the camera but even on full blast I could barely hear anything. Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Mike

    Perhaps the jack was broken.

    Hi Noah,

The headphone jack isn’t broken. I can monitor the audio playback when the camera is in the VCR mode function. The levels are great. The audio levels recorded to tape are great. The only issue is that I can not hear the audio via the headphone jack while I’m actually recording the interview.

Does your camera allow you to hear the audio being recorded into your camera via the headphone jack at an acceptable level?
