You should open the logo in photshop if bitmapped, in Illustrator if it is vector and drop the background out in there. You can do this in InDesign, but the quality is not too good and knocking out the center of a letter “b,d,e,a,g, A, O” and such is not even possible. If you want to try in InDesign:

On a linked image go to object >> clipping path and turn on detect edges.

In the flyout menu of the swatches palette choose “select all unused”, then click the trashcan in the swatches palette to delete them.

If there are still some colors left over that you are not using, you may have them specified as spot colors in you placed graphics. You will need to then open them in your grapahics program(most likely illustrator, as few people know how to spec a photoshop job with a spot color), and delete the colors form the swatches palete of your graphics program. InDesgin will then allow you to delete the swatch in InDesign.

Yeah a bummer that Photoshop and the video apps dont work with auto activation.

I don’t have too many opentype fonts, but my minon pro (.otf) opens up fine with Suitcase 9. Is there an opentype problem (possibly .ttf format), I may not be aware of. I stoppped using Multiple master fonts long time ago cause of the problems(though I could have realy used MM on some tyep on curvy paths today).

Good to see someone else using opentype. I wish the font companies would develop more opentype fonts, and promote the features like they used to years ago (eg: houseindustries).

In word use table >> select table
Then copy this in word and paste into photoshop
The result will be bitmapped, but all your colors and table formatting should carry over

If you want vector quality, print your page to the PDF driver, then place the resulting PDF file as a smart object in Photoshop.

If you will need to edit the table to sex it up, you can open the PDF in Illustrator.

This will work great if every layer fills the canvas:
file >>scripts >> export layers to files
then you can run contact sheet on the files it generates.

If you have small objects than do not fill the entire canvas, you will get all the white space around it in the contact sheet results. You could though open each file control click on the layer to select all pixels then crop (you could make an action to do this if you have a huge job).

Well with Illustrator looks like you will have to go with the auto slice names Illustrator assigns. I checked the attributes palette, and help and nothing for naming slices there. You could do a search and find in dreamweaver on the code if you woudl like to rename your slices.

Is it possible to on your project to use the slice names Illustrator assigns. The is usually good and a lot easier than trying to handcode tables with sliced graphics. Noone should really see your slice names, and you can assign alt tags to the image in a GUI like dreamweaver.

No problem to replace your images. Since you have used different names for your new you will have to do this manually, btu the process is very easy.

When opening your document you can choose to replace the files when prompted, or ignore and fix them with the linsk palette.

In the links palette click on the image name you wish to replace, then click on the 1st icon on the bottom of the links palette and you will be asked the location of the new image.

If you wish these to update autoamatically you has to use a common sense technique that uses the same filenames. You can prior to retouching/color correction make a folder with todays date. Drag a copy of the images into that folder as backup, then do your edits to the original files. This was you have a backup of what you did before and illustrator will automatically link to the new files which are in the same location when they were linked before. You just need to do a quick update on them in the links palette.

You really only need apply some layers style of inner shadow, inner glow and bevel/emboss to get the rounded edges. After that there are a variety of techniques to get the highlight over the center. The link below should explain the rest:

For photgraphs I try to shoot people against black or white if possible, so that the color of the light bouncing back is neutral.

For video I shoot against green or blue, cause of all the frames it is better to let the keying effects do the work, and it is less forgiving cause the objects are moving.

Don’t worry though you should be able to fix the green cast with all the tools photoshop has. The replace color command would be perfect if all the green you had have needs to go to 1 single other color. I am guessing you have a color fringe on the hair and possible on some of the clothing. In that case you can more easily fix this with a couple of passes with the manual correction tools:

color replacement
saturate/destaurate
paintbrush set to mode of color
(set their opacity to a lwo setting where you see only small cahnegs, and brush often for a pro quality looking correction)

Try saving or printing to a pdf from photoshop and opening the pdf in illustrator. Obviously check to keep vector objects and layers intact. Good Luck, let us know how this turns out.
