Change the layer blending mode from normal to color for the.
You can also try using the colro replacement tool in CS by filling your foreground color with the color you desire and brushing over the image you want the colro to match.

To get professional quality masks, using layers masks will give you the best results. The levels of gray in a layer mask give you a density mask which allows teh needed tranparency on a glass or the edge of a fine hair on a person..
I have an old basic tutorial at the link below.
https://mikegondek.com/creativetech/photoshop/14/psp14.htmMy book “Photoshop for Digital Video” includes tutorials you the user actually drop the background out, each one progressively building your skills in density masking. Once you can mask out the images in my book, you will be able to desnity mask anything.

There is nothing wrong with your images, your last settings used did not transfer from CS1 to CS2.
The new auto correction in CS2 is very good for images under most normal lighting conditions, as it does what I used to do manually.
What happens if you fix one image in the raw plug in and then leave it to last settings used?

Resolution is really an easy topic that confuses people. Lets say you are designing 5″ x 3″ postcard, you would want an image that has atlerast 1500 x 900 pixels. It is not that import whether your image is 72dpi or 300dpi, what is important is that you have 100 x 900 or more original pixels.
What I do to make things easy is resave the image at 300dpi, but not adding or deleting pixels, this allows me to place or open the image at 100% in my layout program, knowing that I cannot scale the image bigger or else I fall below the 300 dpi quality level.
Open you tif in Photoshop
choose image >> image size
remove the check from resample image
change resolution from 72 to 300 (you will notice that the width and height chanegs but not the total pixels. Therefore you are not scaling the pixels, but changing their density from 72 to 300 making the image smaller in dimension, but denser in the amount of pixles per square inch.) -
Hold down alt before or after you begin to draw to draw from center with any shape.

I actually did this for the cover of my book “Photoshop for Digital Video” CS2 was not out then, so I had to use Illustrator Envelope Warp to warp strips of images into half circles.
CS2 now has a warp feature of it’s own which should be very helpful for this. IF you choose to do this in Illsutrator, you need to enmbed the image for the envelope warp to work.

Does the save for web command work? That strips out channels converts to RGB and does many other things. A raw file should be ready to make as jpeg, especially but it has to be 8 bit I believe. So convert your image to 8 bit with the raw plug in or in Photohshop, if you have not.

Ctrl Click on a raw file and choose properties. Change open with to Photohsop, adn have it save that preference for all files of that type. If that does notwork, I would delete the Nikon software form your Mac as you proabbly do not need it.
