Thanks for the response. I originally had the CC Sphere layer as a 2D layer but ran into this same problem, so I switched it to 3D in an attempt to see if it’d make a difference. I just tried moving the particle layer to the very top but with the same results. I guess it’s masking time!

    Thanks again,

    Mike

I also just noticed that the red line appears even if I scrub through a totally empty comp (one without any layers).

Thanks for responding but I’m not using any plug ins (although I do know the thinner lines you’re referring to from previous experiences). This line only appears while scrubbing; as soon as I take my finger off the trackpad button, it disappears, and never appears during a ram preview or when I render out a clip. It doesn’t seem to be preventing me from doing anything, it’s just more of a nuisance that gets in the way of seeing everything in the window.

    Hey Steve,

Thanks for the response. I just tried doing this but the problem persists.

  • I’ve been starting to think that exact same thing, Kevin. Although I have no facts/evidence to explain the reason why it’s that way. I’ve tried everything I (or anyone else) could think of in both FCP and AE with no luck.

Motion Tracker ended up running home to cry to its parents… And that gave me an idea!

I took a freeze frame of the manipulated image, dropped it into the panning image comp, adjusted it to last the duration of the pan, and PARENTED it to the original image!

Occam’s razor comes through in the clutch again.

This is exactly what I was looking for, I just need to find a way to make the text come forward rather than the trail just going backward. Thanks Filip!

  • Thanks for your help, Raphael. I understand how it’s all supposed to work but for some reason it just isn’t.

  • My footage was shot as progressive (DVCPRO HD 720, 30p) and looks great when I play it back in the Quicktime file I exported from After Effects. Final Cut is just doing something to the footage on its own that I can’t figure out.

  • Hi Raphael,

I tried doing it in the order you mentioned but it’s not fixing the problem. I’ve gone through all the sequence settings, all the compressor settings, and all the footage settings and the problem is still there. I’m thinking I may just edit the clips together in After Effects.
