Dang. I was hoping that was not the case.

We have 3 partitions. One huge one for the media, one really small one for the projects, and one medium sized for Protools and audio!

I’m not sure where we would move the media! I guess delete as much as possible and move.

    Dang it!!

Any other advice or techniques welcome:)

Just curious, what are you trying to do with the QT reference?

Have you tired exporting an uncompressed quicktime instead?

  • Thanks guys for the all the help. I had no idea about the 99 items in a bin rule!

Anyway, it’s a RAM issue. The only time I can open the bin is when the Avid has been fired up the first time or on a restart. The bin in question has a file size of 180,665 K!

I opened the bin, walked down the hall to refill my coffee, came back and then the bin opened:) It took a while to gather it’s brains:)

There were about 12 duplicate sequences–all with different revised dates. The doc is a hour and it’s a pretty intensive doc. I moved half the sequences to a new bin. That helped.

I finally just moved the one sequence I needed to a new bin and the bin file size is still like 30,000 K!

I checked the computer and there is only 2.25 GBs of RAM!!!! I had no idea it was that small! I’m sending an email to our engineer (who originally speced it!) that we need to max the RAM out. I just assumed it was.

I’ll update the thread if anything new arises.
    Thanks again for the help!

Wow. I figured it out. I’m kind of bummed that it’s not very good looking. Even with blurring and anti-alias checked and tweaked. I used the polygon tool.

If you have any tips…I’d love to hear them.
    Thanks.

Has anyone figured out this problem??? I’ve never experienced this before.

I originally worked on an Xpress Pro system and have switched to an Adrenaline. How can a lower end system out preform a higher?

    I’m baffled….

Thank you for the tips. I like the HD specs and card recommendations!

The sad part is…I can’t afford to buy a new machine right now. So, I have to make due with what I have. yuk.

I have FCP HD and I’m paying the $199 upgrade for Studio. I can’t let that deal go by regardless of what system I have. So , I need to figure out how to get by with my G4 until I can upgrade.

I’m hoping the new card and a complete re-install with 10.4 with work out.

    Thanks again!

Thanks for the tip. It does work and my wrist is SAVED!

I appreciate the help and insight.

It’s funny how Apple has hand picked all the great features that an Avid can do (makes it easier and/or better) and forgets the most basic.

    Cheers!
