Many apps will only install on the system drive

Humm, why not do 2 complete installs of your OS and apps on 2 seperate drives, that way in the event of drive failure you will still be up and running. The OS and FCP suite require about 40Gb so I’d keep 80GB free on the partition, any extra space on the drive can be used for your misc. files on the other partition.

December 12, 2006 at 8:50 pmThank you for the tips. I like the HD specs and card recommendations!
The sad part is…I can’t afford to buy a new machine right now. So, I have to make due with what I have. yuk.
I have FCP HD and I’m paying the $199 upgrade for Studio. I can’t let that deal go by regardless of what system I have. So , I need to figure out how to get by with my G4 until I can upgrade.
I’m hoping the new card and a complete re-install with 10.4 with work out.
Thanks again!
